Data Sources

Where 10xPlot land intelligence comes from, how different datasets are matched to a parcel and what each result can—and cannot—tell you.

Last updated 16 August 2026
At a glance
The parcel boundary begins with the record or coordinates you provide. 10xPlot then adds contextual evidence from attributed spatial, statistical, environmental, market and map sources. These contextual layers do not change the legal boundary or ownership recorded by the competent authority.
01

How 10xPlot combines data

A 10xPlot report may bring together several kinds of evidence that were created for different purposes and at different geographic scales.

  • Your Lag Thram or coordinate record.
  • Administrative and reference boundaries.
  • Agriculture production and activity statistics.
  • Soil, water, terrain, elevation and sunlight indicators.
  • Nature and biodiversity monitoring evidence.
  • Market records and related product evidence.
  • Commercial and open map imagery.
How source data becomes a 10xPlot report
10xPlot starts with the published data and relates it to your plot—for example, by finding a nearby mapped feature, showing its distance or matching the plot to an administrative area. These plot-specific results are calculated by 10xPlot.

The report should be read together with its source year, matched geography, unit and any warning shown beside the result.

02

Lag Thram and parcel data

The initial parcel is created from the coordinates, table, image or other land information supplied by the user. Automated extraction can make mistakes, especially where a scan is faint, rotated, incomplete or uses an unfamiliar format.

Review before use
Users must review the detected boundary points. The official Lag Thram, cadastral records and verification by the National Land Commission Secretariat or a qualified surveyor remain authoritative.
03

Bhutan NSDI and government data

10xPlot uses selected government datasets available through Bhutan NSDI. These include administrative boundaries and mapped information on water, irrigation and soil.

Where available, 10xPlot shows the organisation and dataset behind the information used in the report.

Chiwog boundaries are for local context
Some Chiwog boundaries are reference data. 10xPlot uses them to show local context and does not use them to define the legal parcel boundary.
04

Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Census

Local production context may use the Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Census of Bhutan 2025 (IALC 2025), released by the National Statistics Bureau.

10xPlot summarises the census at the available local administrative level, such as Chiwog, Gewog or Dzongkhag. Customer reports do not display individual household responses.

These statistics describe recorded agricultural activity in an area and do not prove what is currently produced on a particular parcel.

05

Soil, water and terrain context

Depending on coverage, reports may use mapped information on soil, water, irrigation, administrative areas and terrain.

How 10xPlot uses these records
10xPlot places these published map layers around your plot and calculates useful context such as nearby features and distances. The mapped records may not reflect current conditions on the ground.
What this does not confirm
A nearby mapped water or irrigation feature does not confirm access, water rights, connection, quality, flow or year-round availability. Mapped soil information does not replace a plot-level soil test.

Terrain values such as elevation and slope are calculated from elevation data. Use the resolution, confidence and verification note shown with the terrain result.

06

Nature and biodiversity

Biodiversity Monitoring Grids
Department of Forests and Park Services

Status of Biodiversity in Bhutan: Results from the Biodiversity Monitoring Grids · Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan.

Used for mapped monitoring locations and biodiversity records around the plot. 10xPlot calculates plot-relative distance and landscape summaries from those records.

Nature & Landscape may also use mapped protected areas, biological corridors, trekking routes and religious or cultural places where those layers are available in the report.

How to read the result
A biodiversity record shows monitoring evidence in the surrounding landscape. It does not mean that every recorded species is currently present on the plot.
07

Market evidence

Market Opportunity may use historical Kaja Throm or Centenary Farmers' Market records and related public market information, where available.

10xPlot preserves the unit recorded by the source wherever a safe conversion cannot be established. An exact product match is shown separately from a related product or a product with no source record.

  • Exact: the activity was matched to the same source product.
  • Related: supporting context from a different but related product.
  • No record: no defensible market match was found in the selected source.

Historical market evidence is not a promise of a future price, buyer, yield or profit.

08

Maps and imagery

Interactive maps may use Mapbox technology together with OpenStreetMap data and commercial satellite imagery such as Maxar, depending on the selected basemap and coverage.

Required map attribution is displayed directly on the map. Imagery dates and positional accuracy vary and buildings, roads or land use may have changed since capture.

09

How to interpret a result

  • Check whether the result is parcel-level, grid-level, Chiwog, Gewog or Dzongkhag context.
  • Check the source year and recorded unit.
  • Read warnings for approximate or related matches.
  • Verify important decisions using official records and site-based professional work.

A result can be useful for screening and comparison even when it is not suitable for legal, financial or engineering reliance.

10

Sources and independence

10xPlot credits the organisations that publish the source datasets. Their inclusion does not mean those organisations have reviewed, certified or endorsed 10xPlot or an individual report.

10xPlot is independent of the National Land Commission Secretariat, Bhutan NSDI, National Statistics Bureau and other Royal Government of Bhutan agencies.
